Thirteenth-ranked Jilin Tigers (10-17) made lots of trouble for second ranked DongGuan Leopards (22-4) in Changchun on Friday. The visitors from DongGuan managed to secure only three-point victory 94-91. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 28-19 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Jilin Tigers turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Jilin Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Lebanese power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) fired 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Forward Biao Qiu (200-83) chipped in 20 points (made all of his eight free throws). Four DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. American swingman Tim Pickett (193-81, college: Florida St.) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) added 25 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. DongGuan Leopards have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 22-4 record having just three points less than leader Xinjiang. Jilin Tigers at the other side keep the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. DongGuan Leopards are looking forward to face Beijing Ducks (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Jilin Tigers will play against Zhejiang Cyclones (#6) in Hangzhou and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
