Second Stage Round 19: Argentino - Lanus 75-83

Very predictable result in Junin where third ranked Lanus (13-6) defeated 12th ranked Argentino (7-12) 83-75 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Argentino won fourth quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Argentino was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international guard Mariano Byro (195-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Dream Team Management) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Lanus players scored in double figures. Lanus' coach Silvio Jose Santander used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American power forward Joseph Bunn (198-75, college: Phillips (OK)) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Torraye Braggs (203-76, college: Xavier) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Lanus have a solid series of three victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Obras lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Newly promoted Argentino dropped to the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. Lanus will face Estudiantes (#11) in Bahia Blanca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Argentino will play at home against Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
