Regular Season Round 33: Tochigi Brex - Aishin SH 87-74

Top ranked Aishin Sea Horses (24-9) recorded its ninth loss on the court of sixth ranked Tochigi Brex on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Tochigi Brex 87-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Aishin Sea Horses managed to win fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 48-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (205-85) added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks respectively. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tochigi Brex have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains sixth place with 14-19 record. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with nine games lost. Tochigi Brex are again looking forward to face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round.
