An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kanagawa. Third ranked Toyota Alvark faced 4th placed Toshiba Thunders. Guests from Fuchu (21-12) defeated host Toshiba Thunders (16-17) 70-58. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-58. The former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: Cal.St. Northridge) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Cory Violette (203-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Toshiba Thunders' coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toyota Alvark maintains third place with 21-12 record having just three points less than leader Aishin. Loser Toshiba Thunders keep the fourth position with 17 games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toshiba Thunders will play again against Toyota Alvark (#3) in Fuchu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
