Regular Season Round 19: AEK Athens - Peristeri GS 64-60

An interesting game took place in Athens where higher ranked Peristeri GS (9-10) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked AEK (5-14) 64-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Peristeri GS. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Peristeri GS won fourth quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AEK dominated on the defensive end, holding Peristeri GS to just 5 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Dimos Dikoudis (207-77) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. Serbian swingman Vukasin Mandic (200-82) contributed with 13 points for the winners. American forward Ernest Scott (201-82, college: Valdosta St., agency: Impact Basketball) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Evangelos Mantzaris (190-90) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Peristeri GS. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AEK moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Iraklis and Ilysiakos. Peristeri GS at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. AEK's next round opponent will be higher ranked VAP Kolossos (#9) in Rodou and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
