Regular Season Round 33: Hitachi SR - Panasonic T. 57-66

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Osaka: Panasonic Trians (#2) and Hitachi Sunrockers (#5). Hitachi Sunrockers were defeated at home 57-66 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Hitachi Sunrockers were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 41-29 second half run of Panasonic Trians. They outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 45-28 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Ace Custis (202-74, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. International guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (189-87) answered with 21 points and American power forward Tyler Smith (203-80, college: Penn St.) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Panasonic Trians have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 23-10 record behind leader Aishin. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the fifth position with 18 games lost. Panasonic Trians will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Osaka Panasonic Trians.
