Rather expected game when 10th ranked AZS Szczecin (9-16) lost at home to eighth ranked Spojnia (13-12) 81-73 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-14. But AZS Szczecin won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS Szczecin was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Marcin Stoklosa (188-77) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 4 assists. The former international center Wiktor Grudzinski (208-78) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Krzysztof Mielczarek (198-81) answered with 14 points and guard Michal Majcherek (185-83) added 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for AZS Szczecin. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Spojnia have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 13-12 record. AZS Szczecin lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Spojnia will face higher ranked Asecco Prokom 2 (#7) in Gdynia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS Szczecin will play on the road against Astoria in Bydgoszcz.
