The most important game in the last round took place in Bahia Blanca between second ranked Lanus (13-7) and eleventh ranked Estudiantes (9-10) on Sunday night. Lanus was defeated by Estudiantes in a tough game on the road 67-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lanus. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-13. But Lanus won third quarter 20-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Estudiantes shot 25 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Lanus only scored eight points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Lanus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was naturalized Spanish guard Pepe Sanchez (193-77, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. American-Spanish forward Devin Davis (202-74, college: Miami (OH)) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Estudiantes players scored in double figures. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Dream Team Management) produced 9 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Italian center Gabriel Fernandez (204-76) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Lanus' coach Silvio Jose Santander rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Estudiantes have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. Lanus at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Estudiantes are looking forward to face Olimpico de La Banda (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Lanus will play against Monte Hermoso (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
