Regular Season Round 34: Tochigi Brex - Aishin SH 86-93

JBL top team - Aishin Sea Horses (25-9) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Tochigi Brex (14-20) 93-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tochigi Brex. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tochigi Brex won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aishin Sea Horses won last quarter 26-20. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (205-85) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American swingman Ryan Forehan-Kelly (197-80, college: California) supported him with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Even 25 points by international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) did not help to save the game for Tochigi Brex. American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) added 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for lost side. Five Aishin Sea Horses and four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first position with 25-9 record. Defending champion Tochigi Brex keeps the sixth place with 20 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will meet at home Toshiba Thunders (#4) in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play against Toyota Alvark in Fuchu and hope to secure a win.
