Regular Season Round 34: Toshiba BT - Toyota Alvark 49-77

An interesting game for Toyota Alvark (22-12) which played road game in Kanagawa against one of their biggest challengers Toshiba Thunders (16-18). Third ranked Toyota Alvark had an easy win 77-49. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Toshiba Thunders' 22. They outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) chipped in 19 points during the contest. At the losing side American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Yatsutoshi Uda (190-86) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark maintains third position with 22-12 record having just three points less than leader Aishin. Toshiba Thunders at the other side keep the fourth place with 18 games lost. Toyota Alvark will play against Tochigi Brex (#6) at home in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and hope to get back on the winning track.
