Second Stage Round 5: Hamar - KR 57-63

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Hamar (17-2) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked KR (11-8) 63-57. Hamar was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-10 charge of KR, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Hamar turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Margret Sturludottir (178-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Chazny Morris (178, college: UMKC) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. KR's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jaleesa Butler (183-87, college: Georgetown) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Aris Asgeirsdottir (165-87) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Hamar. Defending champion maintains third place with 11-8 record having six points less than leader Hamar. Hamar at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. KR are looking forward to face Haukar (#6) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round. Hamar will play on the road against the league's second-placed Keflavik (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
