Very predictable result when eighth ranked Melilla Baloncesto (14-12) beat on the road 14th ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (9-17) 84-73 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Melilla Baloncesto. CB Tarragona 2017 was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Melilla Baloncesto made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Melilla Baloncesto outrebounded CB Tarragona 2017 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Zach Moss (201-81, college: Mountain St.) who scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import center Jeff Foote (213-88, college: Cornell) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Melilla Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Swingman Alejandro Alba (193-77) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Alexander Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Melilla Baloncesto moved-up to sixth place, which they share with La Laguna. Loser CB Tarragona 2017 keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Melilla Baloncesto will face Fundacion Adepal (#16) in Alcazar in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Tarragona 2017 will play on the road against UB La Palma.
