Regular Season Round 21: Namika II - BC Jyvaskyla 54-86

Bottom-ranked Lahden NMKY (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-54 loss to second ranked BC Jyvaskyla (16-5) in Lahti on Wednesday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. BC Jyvaskyla led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lahden NMKY's 20. They outrebounded Lahden NMKY 38-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. American forward Tracy Robinson (201-86, college: Loyola (IL)) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Jarno Nissinen (194-77) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four BC Jyvaskyla players scored in double figures. BC Jyvaskyla's coach Jari Laine felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Alexi Alanen (194-91) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Jimi Koskinen (194-88) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for BC Jyvaskyla. They maintain second place with 16-5 record behind leader FoKoPo. Lahden NMKY lost their twentieth first game in a row. They still closes the standings. BC Jyvaskyla will meet at home Ura Basket (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lahden NMKY will play against Loimaan Korikonkarit and hopes to get finally their first victory.
