Regular Season Round 30: Shanxi Zh. - Fujian QB 108-107

Sixteenth-ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (6-22) gave a tough game to tenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (13-15) in Taiyuan on Wednesday. Shanxi Zhongyu managed to secure only one-point victory 108-107. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Fujian SBS XunXin outrebounded Shanxi Zhongyu 48-35 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Leon Rodgers (199-80, college: N.Illinois) who scored 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward JiangPeng Duan (197-90) chipped in 24 points. Five Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Andre Emmett (196-82, college: Texas Tech) who recorded 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) added 19 points and 16 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Shanxi Zhongyu have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 13-15 record. Loser Fujian SBS XunXin keeps the sixteenth place with 22 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will meet at home higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fujian SBS XunXin will play against TianJin Rongcheng (#17) in Tianjin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
