Rather predictable result in Tianjin where fifteenth ranked Qingdao Double Star (10-18) defeated bottom-ranked TianJin Rongcheng (5-23) 91-85 on Wednesday. TianJin Rongcheng was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 31-22 charge of Qingdao Double Star, which allowed them to win the game. Qingdao Double Star outrebounded TianJin Rongcheng 53-37 including 38 on the defensive glass. American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Gen Li (196-88) chipped in 21 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Vernon Hamilton (183-84, college: Clemson) with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 8 assists and center Lei Xu (207-88) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. TianJin Rongcheng's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Qingdao Double Star moved-up to thirteenth place. TianJin Rongcheng lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Qingdao Double Star will face Foshan (#15) at home in the next round. TianJin Rongcheng will play against Fujian SBS XunXin in Jinjiang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
