There was a minor upset in Buenos Aires where 11th ranked Monte Hermoso (9-13) was crushed by fourteenth ranked Boca Juniors (9-14) 85-56 on Friday. The game without a history. Boca Juniors led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Monte Hermoso's 32. American power forward Derrick Alston (208-72, college: Duquesne, agency: Priority Sports) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Rodney Elliott (202-76, college: Maryland) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Boca Juniors' coach Oscar Sanchez felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Hernando Salles (188-79) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward Byron Johnson (201-80, college: Belm.Abbey, agency: Dream Team Management) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Boca Juniors moved-up to thirteenth place. Monte Hermoso lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Boca Juniors will face Olimpico de La Banda (#15) on the road in the next round.
