No shocking result in a game in Jinan where second ranked DongGuan Leopards (23-6) defeated 9th ranked Shandong Bulls (14-15) 117-109 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 36-24 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) fired 54 points (!!!) for the winners. Center TongLin Sun (208-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Myron Allen (180-79, college: Lee JC) produced 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Rodney White (206-80, college: Charlotte) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Shandong Bulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. DongGuan Leopards maintains second place with 23-6 record having five points less than leader Xinjiang. Loser Shandong Bulls keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face Qingdao Double Star (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shandong Bulls will play against Zhejiang Cyclones (#5) in Hangzhou.
