Regular Season Round 31: Qingdao E. - Foshan LL 96-98

A very close game took place in Qingdao between Foshan and Qingdao Double Star. Fifteenth ranked Foshan (10-19) got a very close victory on the road over 13th ranked Qingdao Double Star (10-19). Foshan managed to escape with a 2-point win 98-96 in the fight for the fourteenth place. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 30-24 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Forward Yong-gang Zhao (200-82) helped adding 25 points. Foshan's coach Jay Humphries allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) responded with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Foshan and four Qingdao Double Star players scored in double figures. Foshan moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Qingdao DS. Foshan will meet at home Fujian SBS XunXin (#16) in the next round. Qingdao Double Star will play against the league's second-placed DongGuan Leopards having rather not much hope for a victory.
