Regular Season Round 17: KAOD - Lavrio 103-81

An interesting game for KAOD (16-1) which hosted in Dramas 4th placed Lavrio (11-6). First ranked KAOD had an easy win 103-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lavrio. The game was mostly controlled by KAOD. Lavrio was better in third quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when KAOD won last quarter 38-17. It was a great shooting night for KAOD especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Lavrio was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Vageli Margaritis (202-82) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Nikos Katsares (190-83) chipped in 12 points and 10 assists. Swingman Dionysios Giannakopoulos (195-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Yiannis Kakiouzis (205-78) scored 25 points. Five KAOD and four Lavrio players scored in double figures. Lavrio's coach Christos Serellis gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. KAOD have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Newly promoted Lavrio keeps the fourth position with six games lost. KAOD will play against bottom-ranked Near East (#16) in Kesariani in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Lavrio will play at home against the league's second-placed AGOR (#2) in Rethymno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
