Rather expected game in Bydgoszcz where 14th ranked Astoria (6-20) was crushed by eleventh ranked AZS Szczecin (10-16) 74-53. It looked good early as Astoria took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then AZS Szczecin had a 16-6 second period charge getting the lead and Astoria was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-74. AZS Szczecin dominated on the defensive end, holding Astoria to just 6 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Astoria's 34. They outrebounded Astoria 42-23 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. AZS Szczecin brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Guard Lukasz Pacocha (182-82, agency: Promotex) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Center Karol Pytys (202-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Four AZS Szczecin players scored in double figures. AZS Szczecin's coach Zbigniew Majcherek felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Sebastian Laydych (203-87) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Adam Szopinski (190-89) added 7 points and 6 assists in the effort for Astoria. AZS Szczecin moved-up to tenth place, which they share with SKK Siedlce. Astoria lost third consecutive game. Astoria at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. AZS Szczecin's next round opponent will be Olimp MKS Start Lublin (#12) at home. Astoria will play against ISS Sportino in Inowroclaw.
