Rather expected game in Fuchu where 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (14-21) was defeated by third ranked Toyota Alvark (23-12) 68-63 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: Cal.St. Northridge) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. They maintain third place with 23-12 record having just two points less than leader Aishin. Defending champion Tochigi Brex keeps the sixth position with 21 games lost. Toyota Alvark will again meet at home Tochigi Brex (#6) in the next round. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round.
