Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Saitama Broncos (14-23) were defeated at home by second ranked Sendai 89ers (23-12) 74-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sendai 89ers. Saitama Broncos was better in fourth quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Saitama Broncos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Guard Mac Hopson (188-87, college: Idaho) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) chipped in 15 points and 19 rebounds during the contest. Center George Leach (210-81, college: Indiana) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Bobby Nash (198-84) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers maintains second position with 23-12 record having just two point less than leader Hamamatsu P. Saitama Broncos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 23 games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against the league's second-placed Sendai 89ers (#2).
