Regular Season Round 16: GTU Tbilisi - Batumi 86-73

There was a minor upset in Tbilisi where 7th ranked Batumi (5-10) was defeated by ninth ranked GTU (5-11) 86-73. The game was mostly controlled by GTU. Batumi was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when GTU won last quarter 32-11. They also forced 19 Batumi turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. GTU's coach Zurab Tomaradze allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and guard Ivane Maisuradze (194-85) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Batumi. Five Batumi players scored in double figures. GTU maintains ninth position with 5-11 record. Batumi at the other side keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. GTU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena MIA.
