Regular Season Round 16: Armia - GSAU Tbilisi 81-72

Superleague top team - Army Sport Klub (14-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked GSAU (4-12) in Tbilisi 81-72. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-14. But GSAU won second period 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Army Sport Klub forced 21 GSAU turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including 20 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Army Sport Klub brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by the former international guard Kote Tugushi (192-84) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and international swingman Anatoliy Boisa (195-83, college: Lincoln Memorial, agency: World Sport Agency) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 23 points and 4 steals by guard Revaz Chachanidze (183-90) did not help to save the game for GSAU. Guard Davit Artsividze (178-83) added 12 points and 8 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Army Sport Klub have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Newly promoted Army Sport Klub maintains first position with 14-1 record. GSAU at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Army Sport Klub's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena TSU.
