Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (8-12) was edged at home by third ranked Lattes Montpellier (14-6) 66-63 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Lattes Montpellier outrebounded Charleville-Mezieres 31-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. Croatian swingman Ana Lelas (183-83) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Gaelle Skrela (177-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Amel Bouderra (160-89) added 10 points and 7 assists in the effort for Charleville-Mezieres. Charleville-Mezieres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lattes Montpellier moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Charleville-Mezieres keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Lattes Montpellier will face COB Calais (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Union Hainaut in Saint-Amand and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
