Regular Season Round 17: Gimle - BC Asker 61-64

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Gimle (14-3) in Bergen on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Asker/BV (12-3) 64-61. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-61. Asker/BV forced 19 Gimle turnovers. Strangely Gimle outrebounded Asker/BV 39-25 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Karianne Oysted (-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. The former international forward Siri Andersen (180-78) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Asker/BV's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Martina Wood (188, college: N.Carolina) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Sigrun Eskeland (-83) added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Gimle. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Ulriken. Gimle at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Asker/BV is looking forward to face Ullern (#4) in Oslo in the next round. Gimle will have a break next round.
