No shocking result in a game when third ranked Guandong Tigers (23-7) beat bottom-ranked TianJin Rongcheng (5-25) in Tianjin 114-101 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. TianJin Rongcheng managed to win second period 31-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers forced 22 TianJin Rongcheng turnovers and outrebounded them 54-40 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Lester Hudson (191-84, college: Tennessee-Martin) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds and international center Wei Su (212-89) supported him with 31 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 29 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals by American guard Vernon Hamilton (183-84, college: Clemson) did not help to save the game for TianJin Rongcheng. Forward Nan Zhang (197-81) added 21 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 23-7 record having six points less than leader Xinjiang. TianJin Rongcheng lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Guandong Tigers will meet at home Foshan (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. TianJin Rongcheng will play against Jiangsu Dragons in Nanjing and hope to secure a win.
