Regular Season Round 32: DongGuan L. - Qingdao E. 122-108

Very predictable result when second ranked DongGuan Leopards (24-6) won against at home 15th ranked Qingdao Double Star (10-20) 122-108 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by DongGuan Leopards. Qingdao Double Star managed to win fourth quarter 33-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) who scored that evening 39 points (!!!) and 6 assists and center TongLin Sun (208-92) supported him with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 42 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds by American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) did not help to save the game for Qingdao Double Star. His fellow American import guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) added 26 points and 5 assists for the guests. Five DongGuan Leopards and four Qingdao Double Star players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DongGuan Leopards maintains second position with 24-6 record having five points less than leader Xinjiang. Loser Qingdao Double Star dropped to the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Foshan. DongGuan Leopards will meet at home Fujian SBS XunXin (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Qingdao Double Star will play against Zhejiang Cyclones in Hangzhou and hope to secure a win.
