There was a small surprise when fifteenth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (8-14) edged at home 13th ranked Boca Juniors (9-15) 76-74 on Monday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Boca Juniors won third quarter 26-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Olimpico de La Banda won last quarter 23-22. Boca Juniors was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American center Djibril Kante (201-80, college: Indiana St.) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Lucas Picarelli (184-81) chipped in 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Derrick Alston (208-72, college: Duquesne, agency: Priority Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and international forward Sebastian Vega (200-88) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. Olimpico de La Banda moved-up to fourteenth place. Loser Boca Juniors keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Olimpico de La Banda will face league's second-placed Lanus in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
