Regular Season Round 21: Stjarnan - Haukar 90-69
Date: March 7, 2011
There was no surprise when 8th ranked Haukar (8-13) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Stjarnan (12-9) 90-69 on Monday. The game without a history. Stjarnan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Stjarnan outrebounded Haukar 46-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Fannar Helgason (202-84) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Justin Shouse (180-81, college: Mercyhurst) chipped in 17 points and 9 assists. Five Stjarnan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Dutch-American forward Gerald Robinson (204-84, college: Tennessee-Martin, agency: Court Side) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Semaj Inge (193-87, college: Temple) added 12 points, 6 assists and 6 steals respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stjarnan maintains fifth place with 12-9 record. Haukar lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Stjarnan will face Hamar (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Haukar will play against KFI in Reykjavik.
