There was a minor upset in Parana where 14th ranked Argentino (8-15) was rolled over by sixteenth ranked Sionista (8-15) 80-59 on Monday. The game without a history. Sionista led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Sionista outrebounded Argentino 37-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Argentino was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Christopher Hayes (206-87, college: Detroit Mercy) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Naturalized Italian swingman Matias Fioretti (199-84) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Hayes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Sionista's coach Sebastian Svetliza felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Joseph Bunn (198-75, college: Phillips (OK)) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Lucas Picarelli (184-81) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sionista moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with defeated Argentino. Sionista will face higher ranked Estudiantes (#9) in Bahia Blanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
