There was a minor upset in Vitoria where one of their biggest challengers Power Electronics Valencia (15-9) was defeated by sixth ranked Caja Laboral (15-9) 72-65 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Power Electronics Valencia won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Caja Laboral won last quarter 20-14. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Power Electronics Valencia's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian-Croatian center Stanko Barac (217-86) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (198-84) who added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Caja Laboral players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Rafael Martinez (191-82) with 23 points and Serbian power forward Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Power Electronics Valencia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Valencia and Bizkaia Bilbao. Caja Laboral will face Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#7) in Madrid in the next round. Power Electronics Valencia will play at home against DKV Joventut (#11) in Badalona.
