There was no surprise in Rodou where 12th ranked AEK (5-15) was defeated by ninth ranked VAP Kolossos (9-11) 64-57 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But AEK won second period 12-5. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was guard Angelos Tsamis (192-81) who scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American swingman Pat Kalathis (208-85, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. The former international power forward Dimos Dikoudis (207-77) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VAP Kolossos maintains ninth position with 9-11 record. Loser AEK dropped to the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. VAP Kolossos will face higher ranked Panionios (#7) in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AEK will play at home against Kavala (#6).
