Regular Season Round 24: Granada - Menorca 74-54
Date: March 9, 2011
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 17th ranked Menorca Basquet (5-19) was outplayed on the road by eighteenth ranked CB Granada (5-19) 74-54 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by CB Granada. Menorca Basquet was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Menorca Basquet 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian center Paulo Prestes (210-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Coby Karl (196-83, college: Boise St.) who added 20 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots) during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized Brazilian center Caio Torres (211-87) with 11 points and U.S. Virgin Isl. Forward Cuthbert Victor (196-83, college: Murray St.) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Granada moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Menorca. Menorca Basquet lost seventh consecutive game. CB Granada will face higher ranked Asefa Estudiantes (#10) in Madrid in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Menorca Basquet will play at home against the league's leader Regal FC Barcelona (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
