Everything went according to plan when second ranked DongGuan Leopards (25-6) beat at home 16th ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (8-23) 109-96 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by DongGuan Leopards. Fujian SBS XunXin managed to win third quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when DongGuan Leopards won last quarter 27-12. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Fujian SBS XunXin's players. The best player for the winners was Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds. Center TongLin Sun (208-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Andre Emmett (196-82, college: Texas Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and forward TaiLong Zhao (193-90) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five DongGuan Leopards and four Fujian SBS XunXin players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for DongGuan Leopards. They maintain second place with 25-6 record having five points less than leader Xinjiang. Loser Fujian SBS XunXin keeps the sixteenth position with 23 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will meet Guandong Tigers (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fujian SBS XunXin will play against Zhejiang Cyclones (#5) in Hangzhou and hope to secure a win.
