Second Stage Round 6: Keflavik - Hamar 72-91
Date: March 9, 2011
The game between Top Four teams took place in Keflavik. host Keflavik (15-5) was smashed by Hamar (18-2) 91-72. The game was mostly controlled by Hamar. Keflavik was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Jaleesa Butler (183-87, college: Georgetown) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Kristrun Sigurjonsdottir (178-85) supported her with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Hamar players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds by American forward Jacquline Adamshick (183-84, college: Villanova) did not help to save the game for Keflavik. The former international guard Palina Gunnlaugsdottir (170-87) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Hamar went down to second position (L.) due to points difference. Keflavik at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
