Rather expected game when 6th ranked Residence (9-13) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Basket Esch (13-9) 94-56. The game without a history. Basket Esch led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Residence to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Basket Esch dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Residence's 26. They outrebounded Residence 37-22 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Basket Esch players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Residence's players. It was a good game for American forward John Reimold (198-81, college: Bowling Green) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. International forward Martin Rajniak (204-78, college: CSU Bakersfield) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Basket Esch players scored in double figures. Basket Esch's coach Franck Meriguet felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Thierry Abdiu (192-87) added 16 points in the effort for Residence. Newly promoted Basket Esch maintains fourth place in League with 13-9 record. Residence at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Basket Esch's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Etzella in Ettelbruck and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Residence will play at home against Sparta (#5) in Bertrange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
