Regular Season Round 17: GSAU Tbilisi - Kutaisi 67-73

There was no surprise in Tbilisi where 10th ranked GSAU (4-13) was defeated by third ranked Kutaisi (12-4) 73-67. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But GSAU won third quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi forced 20 GSAU turnovers. Forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-91) nailed 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) accounted for 20 points and 4 steals. Guard Revaz Chachanidze (183-90) came up with 19 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Kakhaber Mumladze (201-92) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for GSAU in the defeat. GSAU's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kutaisi. They maintain third place with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Army, which they share with MIA Tbilisi. GSAU lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Kutaisi's next round opponent will be Sokhumi (#5) in Tbilisi. GSAU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi MIA.
