Regular Season Round 18: AEK/Argous - Ermis Lagkada 69-66

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Ermis Lagkada (8-10) was edged on the road by eleventh ranked AEK/Argous (8-10) 69-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-66. AEK/Argous outrebounded Ermis Lagkada 42-26 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ermis Lagkada was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83, agency: FCM) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Croatian center Ivan Kartelo (208-79, college: Purdue) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Nikos Gamouras (202-86) with 15 points and forward Alexandros Panagiotopoulos (202-80, agency: FCM) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AEK/Argous moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ermis Lagkada and Amyntas Dafnis. AEK/Argous will face higher ranked Panelefsiniakos (#6) in Eleusina in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
