Very expected game when 6th ranked Gold Coast Blaze (11-14) was crushed on the road by second ranked Perth Wildcats (16-10) 102-81. The game was mostly controlled by Perth Wildcats. Gold Coast Blaze was better in fourth quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perth Wildcats made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Gold Coast Blaze turnovers and had a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Gold Coast Blaze helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for international guard Damian Martin (188-84, college: Loyola Marymount) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals. The former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Marymount) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman James Harvey (196-79, agency: Interperformances) replied with 25 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Gold Coast Blaze. Five Perth Wildcats and four Gold Coast Blaze players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perth Wildcats have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 16-10 record having just two points less than leader Breakers. Gold Coast Blaze at the other side keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. Perth Wildcats' next round opponent will be Townsville Crocodiles (#3) in Wulguru, which may be the game of the day. Gold Coast Blaze will play on the road against Melbourne Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
