Regular Season Round 21: Maccabi Haifa - Maccabi Ashdod 73-66

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Maccabi Haifa (5-15) defeated at home 7th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (9-12) 73-66 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-66. Maccabi Ashdod was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Tyler Wilkerson (202-88, college: Marshall) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). International forward Elishay Kadir (202-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Meir Tapiro (192-75, agency: Avi Zilberman) who recorded 16 points and 6 assists and American swingman Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa maintains ninth place with 5-15 record. Newly promoted Maccabi Ashdod keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Maccabi Haifa will face higher ranked Elitzur Netanya (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
