An interesting game took place in Forli where higher ranked Sigma Barcellona (15-8) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked MarcoPoloShop.it (6-17) 98-89 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sigma Barcellona. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sigma Barcellona won third quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MarcoPoloShop.it made 22-of-22 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Leemire Goldwire (180-84, college: Charlotte, agency: Interperformances) who scored 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Finnish swingman Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 16 points. American guard Joseph Crispin (186-79, college: Penn St.) produced 21 points and 4 assists and naturalized American swingman Ryan Bucci (192-81, college: C.W. Post) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sigma Barcellona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted MarcoPoloShop.it maintains fifteenth place with 6-17 record, which they share with San Severo. Sigma Barcellona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Immobiliare SR and Sunrise Scafati. MarcoPoloShop.it will meet higher ranked Trenkwalder RE (#14) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sigma Barcellona will play against Naturhouse Ferrara (#10) and hope to secure a win.
