There was a surprise result in Rishon Le-Zion where tenth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (5-16) beat 4th placed Maccabi Rishon (11-10) 76-67 on Sunday. Ironi Ashkelon dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Rishon's 32. The best player for the winners was American power forward Rahshon Turner (201-75, college: Fairleigh Dickinson, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Desmon Farmer (196-81, college: USC) chipped in 16 points. Ironi Ashkelon's coach Eli Rabi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Raymar Morgan (202-88, college: Michigan St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Nizan Hanochi (194-86) added 12 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively. Ironi Ashkelon maintains tenth place with 5-16 record. Maccabi Rishon at the other side dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will face higher ranked Galil Gilboa (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Rishon will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
