Second-ranked Bnei Hasharon (13-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked Maccabi T-A (20-1) in Hod Hasharon on Sunday. The visitors from Tel-Aviv managed to secure only two-point victory 90-88. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Bnei Hasharon. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bnei Hasharon won fourth quarter 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Bnei Hasharon used huge pressure winning it 24-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-11. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Bnei Hasharon was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Doron Perkins (188-83, college: Santa Clara) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. International power forward Lior Eliyahu (206-85, agency: ZAG Advocates) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Shawn James (208-83, college: Northeastern, agency: ZAG Advocates) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import power forward Bryant Dunston (202-86) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Maccabi T-A and five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Maccabi T-A have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-1 record. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Maccabi T-A will face Maccabi Rishon (#5) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against the league's second-placed Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
