Regular Season Round 3: Tijuana - Cananea 71-87

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Mineros de Cananea (2-1) beat on the road 4th placed Tijuana Zonkeys (2-1) 87-71 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Mineros de Cananea. Tijuana Zonkeys managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mineros de Cananea made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) who led the winners and scored 38 points (!!!). His fellow American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) accounted for 19 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American forward Christopher Moore (205-82, college: Virginia Union, agency: Pro Management Agency) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) added 17 points respectively for Tijuana Zonkeys in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mineros de Cananea moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Tijuana Zonkeys. Mineros de Cananea will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play again against Mineros de Cananea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
