CIBACOPA top team - Caballeros de Culiacan (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Coras de Tepic (0-3) 104-73. Caballeros de Culiacan made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a quality performance for who led the winners and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The former international center Victor Avila (210-77, college: Oklahoma) accounted for 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Dream Team Management) came up with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Donald Little (211-78, college: Cincinnati) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for Coras de Tepic in the defeat. Five Caballeros de Culiacan and four Coras de Tepic players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caballeros de Culiacan have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 3-0 record, which they share with Hermosillo. Coras de Tepic at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Los Mochis and Mexicali. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Coras de Tepic will play again against the league's leader Caballeros de Culiacan (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
