The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Quimsa's (12-13) road loss to eighth ranked Estudiantes (14-11) 83-90 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 26-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Quimsa was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Spanish guard Pepe Sanchez (193-77, college: Temple) stepped up and scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and American forward Edward Nelson (203-82, college: Connecticut, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five Estudiantes players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Diego Lo Grippo (198-78) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and international center Roman Gonzalez (211-78) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Estudiantes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Atenas and Libertad S. Quimsa at the other side keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Estudiantes will face league's second-placed La Union in Formosa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Quimsa will play on the road against Boca Juniors (#11) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
