Pioneros Los Mochis (#8) forced the game against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#7) into an overtime, but lost by eleven points 83-94 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Los Mochis. But the guests from Guaymas were better at the end. Pioneros Los Mochis were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 16-15 charge of Ostioneros de Guaymas, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 20-9. Ostioneros de Guaymas dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 50. At the losing side American guard Detrick White (184-76, college: Mississippi St.) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import center Isaiah Fox (206-83, college: Arizona) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ostioneros de Guaymas (2-2) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Tijuana and Nogales. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis still closes the standings with four games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will face bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Bomberos de Mexicali and hope to get finally their first victory.
