Fifth ranked Frayles de Guasave won an overtime thriller edging one of their biggest challengers Fuerza Guinda Nogales by one point 111-110. The game took place in Nogales. But the guests from Guasave were better at the end. It looked good early as Fuerza Guinda Nogales took an 17-point lead at the end of first quarter. Then Frayles de Guasave took control and eventually winning the game that evening in overtime by 1 point. Frayles de Guasave shot 24 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Fuerza Guinda Nogales only scored eight points from the stripe. Frayles de Guasave brought some defensive toughness making 17 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Rasheem Barrett (196-87, college: Auburn, agency: SportsList Inc.) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 rebounds. International forward Michael Strobbe (201-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 19 rebounds and American forward Damone Brown (204-79, college: Syracuse) added 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Fuerza Guinda Nogales. Five Frayles de Guasave and four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Frayles de Guasave (3-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Cananea. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Frayles de Guasave's next round opponent will be Tijuana Zonkeys (#7) at home. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against Mineros de Cananea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
