Regular Season Round 22: Maccabi T-A - Maccabi Rishon 80-72

Leader Maccabi T-A delivered the twentieth first victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Maccabi Rishon (11-11) 80-72 in Tel-Aviv. It looked good early as Maccabi Rishon took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi T-A had a 32-14 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Rishon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-80. Maccabi T-A dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Rishon's 38. Maccabi T-A forced 20 Maccabi Rishon turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Doron Perkins (188-83, college: Santa Clara) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Swingman Chuck Eidson (202-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Court Side) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Raymar Morgan (202-88, college: Michigan St.) replied with 21 points and 4 assists and power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A (21-1) have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Maccabi Rishon lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Maccabi T-A will play against Galil Gilboa (#4) on the road in the next round. Maccabi Rishon will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem and hopes to get back on the winning track.
